These lectures were recorded live and extemporaneously before a college class audience at The University of Montana in September 2003. The class, Montana history, enrolled almost 400 students and began with a 5-lecture presentation on the Lewis and Clark Expedition. In the midst of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial the subject is exciting in itself. In Montana it resonates for two additional reasons. First, since Lewis and Clark provided the first written descriptions of Montana, they launched the content of the entire course. Second, Montana and its Rocky Mountains constitute the most important geographical segment of the entire Expedition. These lectures introduce this exciting subject. Listen to audio clip | Order CDs

University of Montana students with Spectral Fusion Design developed this website. David Slote, UM Business Intern, coordinated the design efforts. It was made possible by a grant from Grizzly Riders International. This collaborative effort showcases UM students’ talents while providing superb educational material for Montana public schools, libraries, and the academic community. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Mike & Maureen Mansfield Library at The University of Montana.
